severed macbeth head; caution: blood and gore
I worked on this with two other people. We made it for use as a prop in the BYU theatre production of Macbeth. Macduff carries it onstage in the final scene after wounding MacB and chasing him offstage. It created quite the reaction :)
We took a mold of the actor's face, made a plaster cast from that, then used this suction-machine thing in the scene shop to form a sheet of latex (or something) around the plaster cast into a sort of mask of the actor's face. Then we mounted it on a styrofoam head block, I painted it and added eyelashes, Melanie Kowallis did the wig and eyebrows, and Shiloh White did the stub of a neck. I think everybody had a hand in making it all bloody.
I wish I had a picture of Hank, the actor. It's way creepy to see him next to his own severed head.
